I was on the latest episode(28)of Javier Hernandez’s JAVILAND PODCAST. “What need does your art fulfill in readers?” was tonight’s topic. Although the chat meandered a bit- (Steve Ditko was one of my favorite diversions!) it was really great as usual to be able to share ideas with the guys. Tonight’s panel included:
Javier Hernandez, Creator of EL MUERTO and DEMOLITION DOVE
Tedd Seko of PAPERENGINE and comics like BILLY COLE & The Devil Has a Funny Laugh
Jim Lujan- animator of the underbelly of reality
George Ward of DUNGEON LEGACY webcomic
and new JAVILAND panelist, Simpsons Movie storyboard artist, Simpsons Comic book artist Luis Escobar!

While chatting with the Javilanders, I made this bit of fan art- everyone’s characters are featured and it was lotsa fun to make. You can figure out which character is whose by visiting everyone’s site above! HINT!

Jeff Heermann is an old internet comic- illustration buddy; his work never fails to astound. A man who is caught in the raptourous grip of Comic book nostalgia, Roman Noir and reverence to comics & illustration luminaries as Ditko, Krigstein, Aparo, Jerry Robinson and Commander Mark. A slave to his 4-color fantasies; yet a trailblazer with the fusion of tradition ink and pen and the digital. We salute you JEFF HEERMANN- now gimme my sawbuck, ya chisler!

EPISODE 23, “Working Solo VS Working in a Group”
Time: 08/30/2009 09:05 PM EDT
Blathering with versimilitiude! I will be on a panel for my second JAVILAND PODCAST. That’s the podcast hosted by Javier Hernandez, Artist/writer/creator of EL MUERTO, (made into a feature film in) DEMOLITION DOVE (trailer), and the upcoming MAN-SWAMP! Javier with BILLY COLE creator TED SEKO, created the NOUVELLE BRONZE Publishing label XOMIX COMIX! Back on topic, Javiland Podcast is a place for Javier’s fellow DIY comic creator pals to commiserate, cajole and communicate our ideas about whatever that night’s topic is. Tonight live at 9:05 PM, EST the topic we wunderkinds of comic creation will discuss is- “Working Solo VS Working in a Group”. Quote Javier’s blurb:
“Do you work on your own when you make your comics? Are you part of a group, creating or publishing in tandem with others? Working alone, or with a group, offers different opportunities and challenges.“
I look forward to shootin’ the bull with my new friends in comics publishing- so please give a listen, or even participate in the live chat!
For your convenience, you can listen with the TALKSHOE WIDGET in the inside bottom right sidebar of this blog!
